Errol Station Link

Construction of the path from Errol village to Errol Station is now complete and the path is being well used.  A small problem appears to be damage to the verges from rabbits or horses.  Path users are asked to help with maintenance by tramping in holes.  A formal opening ceremony will follow later  this summer.  The project is being funded by the Scottish Government & the European Community Rural Tayside LEADER 2007-2013 Programme, Perth & Kinross Countryside Trust, Perth & Kinross Quality of Life Trust and COGG.

Perth - Willowgate Right of Way

Work is underway to improve a very old right of way that includes a riverside path link from Perth City to the cafe and fishery at Willowgate, situated on the banks of the Tay beside Walnut Grove and the Friarton Bridge on the East Edge of Perth. Willowgate was formerly a working salmon station operated by, and still controlled by Tay Salmon Fisheries.

The path lies a few miles north of Abernyte and Knapp with the northern end terminating at Tullybaccart in the Sidlaw Hills just off the A923 (Muirhead to Coupar Angus road).

Type Public Right of Way as asserted by Perth and Kinross Council.  The path is suitable for walkers, cyclists and horse riders, but please take care if local conditions become difficult and observe the Access Code.
Description

Most of this route is off-road and runs through attractive countryside.  A section of the route at the Tullybaccart end is on a fairly quiet country road.  It is possible to incorporate the path into a circular round walk by returning to the start point by quiet country roads via Knapp.

Distance

The route (indicated by A) on the map is 3.2 miles from Dron to Tullybaccart.  If you make this a circular walk returning by road via Newton, Knapp and Dron from where the path meets the Tullybaccart to Abernyte road, there is an additional 4.4 miles to cover.

Parking

There is a public car park at Tullybaccart (marked on the map) that is very convenient for walking from this end of the path.  There is also a smaller car parking area where the path meets the Tullybaccart to Abernyte road,  If parking by the Dron end of the path, please take care not to block access to fields.
