Errol and Grange - projects

Gas BraeAs a result of Perth & Kinross Council’s  'Placecheck'  on 23 June 2007, the first path to be improved was the route down the farm track past New Farm, then across to join the bottom of Gas Brae at the bridge and back up past Cistern Green to the village.

Gas Brae towards Tay Lodge

CoGG also plans to improve the route along the Tay from the sewage works to Port Allen and on to Paddockmuir Wood, to the east of St Madoes. Initial discussions have already been held with one of the landowners concerned who is most supportive of our plans.

North Errol

The path from Thieves Walk to Loan Brae (also known locally as the cow road), has now been upgraded so that it can be used in all weathers and be more easily maintained.  Funding was provided by Perth & Kinross Quality of Life Trust and Perth & Kinross Countryside Trust (PKCT)

Roseanna Cunningham MSP officially opens the path on 14 August 2009

Phyllis Mackay from CoGG welcomes Roseanna Cunningham, Errol residents and representatives from the funding organisations who all braved the rain to show their support

The ribbon is cut and the path is officially open!  We then adjourned to The Smiddy for a hot drink and to escape the rain.

Errol Station Link

Construction of the all weather, multi-user path linking Errol village and Errol Station is now complete.  The following photos were taken before construction of the path started, then once the path works were completed:

As the approx 1 km long route follows field margins from the eastern end of Thieves Walk to Errol Station Road,  a larger circular route from Errol via Inchcoonans is now possible.  This does involve a section of road walking along Loan Brae from Inchcoonans level crossing to the start of the path to Errol (see map of Paths around the Errol area)

The project is being funded by the Scottish Government and the European Community Rural Tayside LEADER 2007-2013 Programme, Perth & Kinross Countryside Trust, Perth & Kinross Quality of Life Trust and CoGG.
