We are pleased to be promoting another path - Glen of Rait to Dalreichmoor via Shanry.  You can get details here.   This path can be combined with a walk on quiet roads through the Sidlaw hills returning past Evelick and Kilspindie to give a route that is over 6 miles long.

Glencarse, StMadoes and Inchyra - meet the local group

To contact your local group by email, visit the Contact us page

Glencarse and the adjacent settlements of St Madoes and Inchyra lie to the west of the Carse of Gowrie on either side of the A/M90 motorway.  Like much of the Carse the area forms part of the rich alluvial plain on the north bank of the River Tay and is renowned for its high quality agricultural land and soft fruit farms.   You can see some of the sites of interest in our area on this page.

A number of good and accessible routes already traverse the area and others are being explored and reviewed for possible upgrade.  One of CoGG's priority projects relates to the Balthayock estate lying towards the northwest of Glencarse.  News on this and other developments in the area will appear on the website as they progress.

Both St Madoes and Inchyra boast fine views of the Sidlaw hills toward the north and the Ochils across the river to Fife.

A walk from St Madoes to Cairnie Pier will take you to the reed beds that fringe the river bank.  The Tay reed beds are the most extensive of their kind in Britain and provide a natural habitat for a wide variety of wildlife.   A good image of the reed beds is available on the Errol satellite group page.
